Join Starburst as an Application Security Engineer and play a pivotal role in safeguarding our applications, services, and development ecosystem. As a crucial member of our security team, you'll collaborate with engineering teams to integrate security best practices into the software development lifecycle and build secure-by-default patterns. You'll empower developers to deliver secure, resilient products and contribute to the continuous improvement of our security program.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with the engineering teams to design and implement secure-by-default patterns, ensuring our applications and products are resilient against modern threats.
Integrate application security best practices into the development lifecycle, including automated security checks within CI/CD pipelines.
Support and maintain Application Security tooling, including Static Application Security Testing (SAST), Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST), Software Composition Analysis (SCA), and secrets scanning.
Conduct secure code reviews to ensure adherence to security standards and guidelines.
Develop and maintain security-related documentation, guidelines, and playbooks to facilitate knowledge sharing across the organization.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of our security program, staying up-to-date with industry trends, threats, and emerging technologies.
Collaborate with incident response teams to investigate and remediate security incidents.
Provide guidance and education to developers on secure design and remediation, ensuring they have the necessary skills to deliver secure products.

Requirements & Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience in application security, including experience with security tooling and frameworks.
Hands-on experience with SAST, DAST, SCA, and secrets scanning tools, as well as cloud security platforms.
Strong knowledge of secure coding practices, web application vulnerabilities, and threat modeling.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated security checks.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Passion for security and a desire to continually learn and grow in the field.
